I'm a digital journalist from Charlotte, North Carolina. I was in the United States Air Force for seven and a half years. I was a JAG paralegal in the Air Force, but still wanted to pursue my love of television broadcasting.

If you live along Mallard Creek Church Road, you have seen many changes in the last few years. The I-485 extension project has been underway since 2010 and it's now in it's final portion in the Mallard Creek area. It's causing headaches for one family though.

She loves animals, so Dr. Judy Vogt’s job is perfect for her.

"I love that I feel like I'm not only doing something for the animals.  I'm doing something for the community," says Dr. Vogt.

As a vet, she has helped the Humane Society for nine years.

"I love watching the animals go from a potentially poor situation to a better situation," says Dr. Vogt.

But now, the Humane Society of Charlotte finds themselves in their own situation.

"Right now, we are heading into spring, and with spring comes liters of puppies and kittens. Sometimes mom is not around and then we have to bottle feed the baby orphans."

The little ones are like human babies; they require formula every couple of hours.

"The best way to do that is through supplements that are made to specifically feed the puppies and kittens. We already have some litters of puppies and kittens that are being bottle fed," says Dr. Vogt.

As the litters pour in, the formula runs out.

"Now, we're not even at our peak capacity as far as how many we'll take in and we're going through a bottle or a size like this," says Dr. Vogt.

So, the Humane Society of Charlotte needs help to keep these babies healthy.

"Asking for help because we are going through it very, very quickly. In fact, right now, we are pretty much gone, the kitten milk replacement is pretty much gone so we'll, we need that and the puppies are going through it at an alarming rate," says Dr. Vogt.

To see the formula needed and to help visit: http://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/donate-now/wish-list/   and look under the “Food” section.

Help give my new furry friends some food for their future.
