Moving On: Smith Signs With Ravens

Posted: Updated:
Former Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has signed with the Baltimore Ravens.  Reports indicate Smith has signed a three-year deal, worth $11 million.

The Panthers released Smith on Thursday morning. It took roughly 30 hours for Smith to get picked up on the free agent market.

Smith tallied 64 catches for the Panthers in 2013, finishing with 745 yards and 4 touchdowns. Smith's catch and yardage totals were his lowest since 2010.

The Ravens wide receiving corps gets a boost from Smith. Baltimore adds another target for emerging quarterback Joe Flacco, and complements their wideouts that include Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones.

In a teleconference on Friday night, Smith said Baltimore was "really appealing because it's a short flight from Charlotte".  His wife will give birth to their son later this spring.

Other highlights from the teleconference include:

Smith - "I have no ill feelings, I hold no grudges (toward the Panthers)... I can't be upset at an organization that gave me everything."

Smith - "I love the organization (Panthers), I love what they've done for me."

Smith on #Panthers - "I wasn't frustrated. Things didn't work out. I guess that's just how things go. I don't have any bad feelings."
