Now that Chiquita has merged with Fyffes, many people are worried about the $23 million in incentives they got for moving here two years ago.

But Chiquita executives say they were never written one multi-million dollar check..

"The majority of incentives that Chiquita is eligible for have yet to be paid. They're only two years into their presence in this market," said President and CEO of Charlotte Chamber Bob Morgan.

They have to work for the money.

"Incentives don't get paid if companies don't produce the jobs and the investment that they've agreed to up front, " he added.

And so far Chiquita is meeting their goals.

They were required to have 245 jobs by the end of 2013.They have hired 310 employees.

That doesn't mean Chiquita is completely out of the woods. The contract says they need to keep global headquarters in Charlotte, and now they're moving to Ireland.

But the waters are a little muddy because four of the top seven executives are going to stay right here in the Queen City.
