A woman is in critical condition from inhaling too much smoke after her Phoenix apartment caught on fire on Tuesday morning.

Phoenix firefighters say the woman called 911 around 4:30 a.m. saying her apartment near 48th Street and McDowell was filled with smoke and she couldn't get out.

Crews were able to put the fire out and get the woman to safety.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition due to the amount of smoke she inhaled.
