Abuse, neglect, mental illness, trauma: these words describe the early lives of therapeutic foster children - now in treatment through the Alexander Youth Network. What role does faith play in turning the lives of these children around?

I have been working in television for 15 exciting years!

I got my start in Chicago – my hometown - as an intern on the “Jerry Springer Show” and as guest co-host on “Face to Face: The Vernon Jarrett Show” (WLS TV).

I spent the next several years covering politics and crime for WFMZ-TV in Allentown, PA and WRBL-TV in Columbus, GA (CBS 3) - where I also served as weekend anchor. I spent three great years at WRC-TV (NBC 4) in Washington, DC covering the Iraq War hearings, the Georgetown murders, the funeral of former President Gerald Ford and more.

I also hosted a summer series called “Queen City Blocks” for WTVI (PBS Charlotte) in 2009.

I have a B.A. in English & Spanish from Spelman College and a Ph.D. in English/Cultural Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

I have worked as an English Professor at George Mason University, UNC Pembroke and Johnson C. Smith University.

I live in Charlotte with my husband Jack, a TV producer, and our young daughter Jiana.

My stepson, Virgil, resides in Texas.
