Many people remember where they were when big moments in history occurred. I certainly do, but I also remember watching the news coverage of those events and watching how journalists handle ever-evolving information and the confirmation of facts. As a middle school student with family members in the aviation business, I remember being fixated on the coverage of September 11th. In college, I remember where I was when the Chilean miners were rescued and Osama bin Laden was killed.

Aside from large national stories, I believe it's the personal voices that matter most. Seemingly small stories about everyday life can have a big impact in a community, and I got into this business to tell those stories. No matter how small, I believe the news has the power to help people share their stories in meaningful ways.

I studied print journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my time there, I learned while working in magazines, newspapers and network television internships. After graduating in 2011, I interned for three months as a copy editor for the Chinese Internet Information Center in Beijing, China. Working under the Chinese system of journalism gave me a greater appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy, and the ability to tell fair and balanced stories.

My career as a print journalist in Charleston, South Carolina. While there, I covered business news in the areas of real estate, banking, tourism, healthcare and government. I believe there is no such thing as a bad story idea and I would love to hear anything pitches you've got.

When I'm not tracking down a story, I enjoy being outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, swinging in a hammock and taking photos are just a few of my favorite activities. Exploring the city's culinary treats is also something I enjoy, but those ventures typically earn me more jogs around the neighborhood. One of my favorite activities is SCUBA diving, and I can't spend enough time exploring the ocean.

I'd love to get to know you and find the best way to serve you, the community.

When I'm not tracking down sources or searching for stories to tell, I enjoy being active, listening to live local music and SCUBA diving.

I'm a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
