Guatemalan Man Killed Weeks After Moving To NJ

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A Guatemalan man who came to live with relatives in New Jersey just a few weeks ago has died after he was attacked during an apparent botched robbery on a Trenton street.

Trenton police say 18-year-old Julio Lopez-Cruz was attacked on Rusling Street around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, as he returned home with some groceries. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

A cause of death has not been determined, but authorities say the man's head may have struck the sidewalk during the attack. Authorities say two men believed to be the assailants fled the scene on foot after people inside the victim's home came out to help him.

No other injuries were reported in the attack.

No arrests have been made.
