Cars Parked On Snow Emergency Routes Towed

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Despite the warnings from Mayor Michael Nutter to get your cars off the snow emergency routes, they were still out there, and now they've been towed.

FOX 29 cameras found cars being taken off the streets of Philadelphia by tow trucks on Wednesday night.

The snow emergency was put into effect at 8 p.m., and the warning was put out many times, starting in the early afternoon.

The mayor even joked that you did not want this to happen: "If you park on a snow emergency route after 8 o'clock p.m., your vehicle will be relocated. You will spend the rest of the year trying to figure out where it is."

In all seriousness, if your car does get towed from a snow emergency route, you can call 215-686-SNOW for its location.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority has set up a deal at a lot of locations in the city. What they do is they have parking garages, but people don't want to spend $20, $30 to park there overnight, since that's a lot money.

So they knock the price down to $5 for a snow emergency discount. For a full list of participating lots, click here.
