I joined My Fox Carolinas in July as a DJ. No not a disc jockey, but a digital journalist. I love being able to report, shoot and edit all of my stories. I'm a proud graduate of Elon University with a degree in Broadcast and New Media. During my time in college, I was a reporter for the award-winning newscast, Elon Local News.

NCDOT spread about 26 tons of salt Tuesday in the Charlotte area and 6,600 gallons of brine solution since the morning, according to spokesperson Jennifer Thompson. NCDOT worker Kevin Gathings says that once the snow falls, the big issue is black ice. He’s been working all day to make sure it doesn’t affect the drivers on the road.

“Snow is not bad. We can take care of the snow. Ice is a different story. A lot of drivers can’t see it. It’ll sneak up on you and take your vehicle out of control. We’re more concerned with the ice,” Gathings said.

Although snow has not impacted people’s commute today, it is predicted to cause delays tomorrow. Charlotte is expected to receive about four to six inches of snow on Wednesday. Drivers are encouraged to drive with extreme precaution or avoid driving, unless it is absolutely necessary.
