    Marshall Park in Charlotte was filled with hundreds of people. Protesting what is traditionally a holiday aimed at celebrating the working people, but instead, begging for higher wages for those working jobs with hourly rates.

The snow and the ice isn’t here yet, but local emergency groups like Medic are already preparing for the worst. Don Overcash is the operations director at Medic. He is adding additional shifts and staff, as they expect the roads to get dangerous overnight, and into the new few days. Traffic accidents and slips and falls seem to be what they respond to the most during a winter storm.

Down the road at the Red Cross, they are helping to inform the public on what they need to keep them to stay safe in this winter blast. Flashlights, batteries, bottled water and blankets are the necessities. Especially if the power goes out, you will need these things to stay warm and hydrated.

The Red Cross is working hand and hand with emergency management and the weather service. Monitoring this storm as it develops, and they're ready to open shelter or warming stations in case it's get extreme."
