CVS announced on Wednesday that it will stop carrying tobacco products in its stores nationwide starting October 1.

The company CEO Larry Merlo says tobacco products do not belong in a place where healthcare is provided.

Some smokers say this move will not stop them from smoking, but instead make them spend their money elsewhere for a smoke.

Chief's Smoke Shop near Woodlawn Road in Charlotte says it will enjoy the extra customers. There is a CVS just a few blocks away.

CVS says it will lose $2 million annually once this takes effect.

The company says it will start a smoke cessation campaign starting this spring to help smokers quit.
