Airport Police Battle City of Charlotte

Posted: Updated:

A group of nearly 20 airport police updated their complaint against the City of Charlotte on Tuesday after city leaders told officers they will lose their law enforcement status this March. The lawsuit began last Fall when the city demanded more training from the airport police while not recognizing the officers’ experience and rank at the airport, reflected in unequal pay to other CMPD officers.

The City of Charlotte did not comment on the lawsuit as city lawyers are working on a response to the airport police lawyer’s revised complaint.

The lawyer for the airport police says the case will likely go on until next Fall. In the meantime, the officers may lose their law enforcement status in March.
