Escaped Mich. prisoner captured, daughter of those he murdered speaks out

The daughter of two of the people Michael Elliot was convicted of killing spoke out after he escaped the Ionia Correctional Facility Sunday. Elliot was captured Monday night in LaPorte, Indiana.

Authorities say he escaped by crawling under two fences while wearing a stolen white kitchen uniform.

The time he was free was a tough time for Stacy Ramsay, who was just 17 years old when her parents were killed. Elliot is convicted of murdering both of them.

"I never fathomed even the possibility that that would ever even happen. I've moved on with my life and just accepted the fact that they're going to be in prison for the rest of their lives, and just to get call was really devastating," she told FOX 2's Taryn Asher Monday evening before Elliot was caught.

She wasn't scared about her own safety, she was worried Eliott wouldn't think twice about killing anyone who stood between him and his freedom.

"He is a vicious monster. He truly is."

Stacy's parents, Bruce Tufnell and Kathy Lane, went to visit her uncle Mike Tufnell and his girlfriend, Vicki Currie, in Gladwin County when they were killed by four people. Elliott's own weapon tied him to the premeditated armed robbery where he broke into their house, shot everyone inside and set it on fire.

"I still struggle with it. But I've since forgiven them for what's happened, because I didn't want to carry that anger in my life anymore," she says.

A few years ago Stacy, who now has two daughters and two granddaughters of her own, decided to write to Elliott in prison in hopes of getting closure. But, even after being convicted and spending years behind bars, Elliott still claimed he was innocent.

"I just felt the need to know that he was sorry, and it was mistake because he wrote me back - he denied everything and said he knows how I feel because his dad was killed, and they don't know who his dad's killer is. I never responded to that letter," she says.
