For tracks a mile and a quarter or bigger, NASCAR's traditional qualifying of a two "run and done" is history. The new "knockout" qualifying rules are similar to those in Indy and Formula 1 racing. Now drivers will have to make it through three different timed sessions to sit P1.
For tracks shorter than a mile and a quarter, like Bristol and Martinsville there will be two different timed sessions. Not all fans are happy with the proposed changes
