Charlotte Kid Reporter Gets A Chance

Katrina Johnson says ever since Simone Johnson was little, she has wanted to be in television.

"She said when she was four years-old, I'm going to be on TV Mama so here she is and we're so proud of her."

Even though she is only ten years-old, she dreams of being on the red carpet.

"I would want to do the fashion reporting,” said Simone.

Simone is getting a head start. She, Blythe, and Maggie are all part of the Carolina Kid News TV in Charlotte.

Together, they write stories, interview people, and put the show together.

Simone loves being with the Carolina Kid News team. "They film me and put it on the website and stuff and I interview people."

After the newscast is shot, Harrison Grothoff starts the editing. At just sixteen years-old, he already has an impressive resume. He has made two short films with his friends.

Harrison can edit the 30 minute show within six hours. Editing is his favorite part of the job.

"Just knowing you put this out there and watching it back and knowing that's something you created."

As for Simone’s chances of making it big, her mom believes it will happen.

"Well, she's always said she's going to be as big as Michael Jackson, so we're hoping that um, she wants to go to Hollywood, so we're, you know she's wanting to go as far as broadcast, um, TV, film."

Then someday, you could see these kids on the set of FOX.
