NC Senator Wants To Halt Union County Social Services

Posted: Updated:

A North Carolina senator wants state officials to temporarily step in with day-to-day operations for Union County’s Department of Social Services.

Sen. Tommy Tucker has made the request after Wanda Larson, a supervisor with Union County’s social services, was charged with child abuse after one of the children she raised was found handcuffed to their front porch with a dead chicken around his neck.

State D.S.S. says that Union County social services have acted appropriately since their findings and there is no need at the time to intervene, although, Tucker says he was told that the state social services will be going to the legislature to propose a plan where they can intervene easier, in the future.
