Eating healthy and saving money can be a burden. Ellie Kay [pictured], author of Lean Body and Fat Wallet, says saving money and losing weight tops many American’s lists.
“The hardest part of getting your health and wealth in order is to consider the failure factors,” said Ellie Kay.
She says the first failure factor is not having a plan.
“Even when you have a plan you have to work it,” said Kay. She says people should pay down consumer debt, fund their 4O1K and focus on retirement savings.
For those who are not interested in retiring right now, she says take time to laugh. Kay says laughing reduces stress and then you should center yourself around people who make you laugh.
Couples can save money and eat healthy by not going out to eat, said Kay.
She suggests couples watch cooking shows, write down the recipes, make healthy meals and have dinner dates.
As for retirement, Kay said, “The average couple is going to spend $240,000 when it comes down to health related expenses in retirement, that’s why it’s important to look at what you need in a sustainable lifestyle matter.”
For those with busy and unusual schedules, she suggests getting sleep and turning off electronics before you go to bed.
