For years Stephanie and Randy Barfield wanted to adopt children, but it was too expensive. Then they found an unusual solution that finally allowed them to have the family they wanted.
“We were married for 15 years before we decided to adopt our first child from China, and we already had three biological kids,” said Stephanie Barfield.
Before adopting, Stephanie was hesitant about the process because, it was too expensive.
“When we realized the expense of adopting a child we knew we could not afford it on our own, so we asked God to show us a creative way to raise funds and he did that through our puppies.”
Stephanie and Randy began breeding Havanese puppies to help fund their first adoption and after that it became a business.
Now Stephanie and Randy have three adoptive children and sell their puppies $15,000 a bred.
“We are open for adoption, we have paperwork on hold in Taiwan,” said Stephanie
The two parents are older, but say that doesn’t really matter.
“I am 46 and my husband is 55, but old parents are better than no parents.”
The Barfields adopt through the Lifesong adoption agency and she says every child deserves a home.
They call their home their puppy ministry.
“For the puppies and anyone that comes into our home, we always share with them our purpose,” said Stephanie.
