Medical marijuana initiative gains money, momentum

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Attorney John Morgan and his law firm have invested $2.8 million in the campaign to bring medical marijuana to Florida. And Morgan's contributions appear to have fueled United for Care's petition drive.

The campaign to put a medical marijuana question on the statewide ballot this year needs approximately 680,000 verified signatures from Florida voters. And United for Care's campaign manager Ben Pollara said his group has already collected and submitted more than a million signatures.

Of those submissions, he said around 415,000 have already been verified.

The Florida Supreme Court still has to approve or reject the ballot language. Attorney General Pam Bondi argued the question is vague and misleading.
