The deadliest killer many times is the one you never see coming. Invisible odorless and tasteless gases in the air.
We hear a lot about carbon monoxide and practically every home has a CO detector, but there's another gas that gets a lot less attention.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency personnel are urging people to sign up for Emergency Alerts.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Services have a new way to let people know of police, fire and weather alerts, among others. It’s an upgraded system, allowing emergency services to send texts, emails and make calls to advise people of everything from flooding, SWAT situations, to chemical spills. The Charlotte Fire Department says only 15 cities in the country have the new system. Charlotte-Mecklenburg kicked off the program in December.

Emergency services personnel say they’re concerned because very few people have signed up for the alerts. They hope more people sign up so as to keep more people safe and informed in the case of emergency.
