Girl Abducted from Massachusetts Found Safe in Shelby

Posted: Updated:
A five year old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert out of Massachusetts has been found safe near Shelby, NC.

Alize Whipple was discovered by Cleveland County deputies at an address on Yarn Mill Road around 3pm on Saturday.

The little girl was in the company of her mother, Leeanna Rose Wilson, who was arrested on charges of parental kidnapping.

Whipple was taken from Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on Wednesday and police quickly focused on Wilson, who is the child’s non-custodial parent.

Massachusetts law enforcement officials requested help with the case and provided the Yarn Mill address to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.

A sergeant and a lieutenant visited the home and asked to take a look around, according to the sheriff’s office. It was there they found the child and her mother, who by that time had a warrant out for her arrest.

Wilson is being held without bond while authorities arrange her transfer back to Massachusetts to face the charges.

Whipple was taken into protective custody by Cleveland County officials, who are working with social workers in Massachusetts to reunite the child with her family.
