A blood drive at Community Blood Center of the Carolinas had many people giving on Thursday, especially Panthers fans. Up for grabs? Entry to the hottest event in town on Sunday. LeAnne Decker is hoping to win Panthers playoff tickets for her husband.
"Today's his birthday so what a great present for him if we win,” Decker said.
Blood donors’ names were submitted in a raffle to win a pair of tickets to Sunday’s Panthers’ game. The seats are in Section 131, Row 2.
LeAnne Decker was excited to give blood to help save a life and possibly win the tickets.
"I mean it's always a good thought that giving blood will help save somebody but again the Panthers tickets, great incentive to support a hometown," she said.
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas’ manager Theresa Kochalka was pleased with today’s turn-out but says the need is still there.
"We see a significant drop in our RH levels right now. Any donors right now who are O-Neg, A-Neg, B-Neg, we need those blood donors to respond right now," she said. "We have less than a one day supply of that. and you know we are basically less than 50% of what we need to have on the shelves everyday with any type of O in general, whether that is O positive or O negative."
Lynne hopes to inspire others in the community, just like Grier did.
"Help people going through chemo and have cancer," she said. "Help save them."
