Authorities in Rowan County, along with the FBI, tell My Fox Carolinas they continue to track leads in the case of missing teen Erica Parsons. Parsons was 13 years old when she was last seen in November 2011, but she wasn’t reported missing until July 2013. Her adoptive brother came forward and said he hadn’t seen his sister in about a year and a half.
Shelley Lynch, Public Affairs Specialist with the Charlotte Division of the FBI says the organization hasn't given up on finding Erica.
“Our joint investigation with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office is active and ongoing at this time," he said. "We are continuing to follow leads and using a variety of investigative tools to locate Erica.”
Investigators say Erica’s adoptive brother reported her missing after he moved out of the house of Erica’s adoptive parents, Casey and Sandy Parsons. Authorities say Casey and Sandy Parsons told them they left Erica with her biological grandmother in 2011, but investigators say they have no evidence that person exists.
Detectives say they’re waiting on test results from evidence collected at the former home of Casey and Sandy Parsons in Salisbury and from a storage shed on separate family property in China Grove.
“We always welcome hearing from anyone who saw Erica to try to help us build an even more accurate timeline of when she was last seen," Lynch said.
