9/11 Fire Engine Displayed In Mount Pleasant FD

Posted: Updated:

Rescue 5, one of the engines that responded to the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center is on display at Mount Pleasant Fire Department in Fort Mill, as part of a cross country tour through the Remembrance Rescue Project.

Captain Jonah Smith at the Mount Pleasant Fire Department says that the engine serves as a symbol of sacrifice.

“It’s been really meaningful to have a truck that traveled to one of the worst fires tragedies in American history, and allowing us to spread the word in our community,” he said.

The tour is to help people understand the sacrifices of fire fighters who still suit up and hop on the engine, those who decide to run in while everyone else is running out. This engine commemorates those who paid the ultimate price, to sacrifice their life to save another.
