Arie Moyal is traveling around the United States and Canada by train to hand out hugs – and the cost is free.

For the fifth-consecutive year, Moyal is delivering hugs to raise awareness towards mental health. Through his website,, Moyal is raising money and tracking his journey. Moyal dropped into Charlotte on Monday, his 21st stop, and has 11 more stops to go – including San Francisco on New Years Eve.

“I think to a degree it helps me because it’s confirming that I’m living my life with integrity. So I saw an opportunity to make a difference and I stepped up and took it.”

Moyal is active on Twitter and Facebook and keeps followers informed on all of his happy-hugging. One of his most memorable moments came when a train conductor took his “Free Hugs” sign and took on the role of “Hugger” – giving riders a healthy dose of friendly, love.

Check out to keep up with Moyal’s itinerary and information.
