After a five year hiatus, the Carolina Panthers are headed back to the playoffs. The Panthers beat the New Orleans Saints 17-13 on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in a game that went down to the wire.
Cam Newton hit Domenik Hixon with a 14-yard touchdown pass with just 23 seconds remaining, helping the Panthers (11-4) clinch their first playoff berth since 2008.
DeAngelo Williams ran for a touchdown in the second quarter, after a Thomas Davis interception gave the Panthers the ball back late in the second quarter.
New Orleans took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, thanks to a drive filled with Jimmy Graham catches. Graham caught a five-yard touchdown pass to cap the drive, and give the Saints a 13-10 lead.
Carolina can clinch their first NFC South title since '08 with a win at Atlanta in Week 17. A Saints loss would also clinch a division title for the Panthers.
