Second Harvest Food Bank partnered with Bethlehem Center to launch their new project, “Surprise Inside” on Tuesday. The “surprise” was truck loads of Christmas treats dropped off at the center for their 1,000 families.
“The basic idea is trying to do something for every single family that they serve.”
All morning, Second Harvest unloaded diapers, turkeys, gifts and other necessities for children and seniors anxiously waiting.
“I can’t explain it, but it’s a big blessing” said Bethlehem Center senior Shirley White.
Bethlehem Center serves some of Charlotte’s most impoverished areas and provides educational opportunities for low-income children and families.
“We are trying to change lives and make a difference in the quality of life for the children you see around us and almost 1,000 families children here in Mecklenburg County.”
A “Surprise Inside” will partner with a different agency each quarter to donate the most needed items and Bethlehem Center was the first on their list.
