FOX Carolinas has learned about a road closure that may cause you major delays while commuting next week.
The intersection of Trade and Caldwell Street will be closing beginning Monday, Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. Crews will be working on construction associated with the CityLYNX Gold Line, so motorists can expect congestion in the project zone.
As an alternate route, motorists traveling northbound on Caldwell Street can use East Fourth Street, South College Street, and East Fifth Street.
People going southbound on Caldwell can take East Fifth Street, Davidson Street, and East Fourth Street as a detour.
Those motorists heading eastbound on East Trade Street should travel on South Brevard Street, East Third Street, and South Kings Drive as an alternative route.
Drivers should prepare by leaving their destination a little earlier and paying extra attention to the other motorists that may be on the road as well as construction workers. Also beware of pedestrians walking near the work zone.
Pedestrians should be cautious and cross at intersections where there are signals.
CATS will be affected by this road closure.
The intersection of Trade and Caldwell Street will reopen on Friday, Dec. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
