Aquarium Set to Open in February, Bring Jobs

Posted: Updated:
CONCORD - The SEA LIFE Aquarium at Concord Mills is expected to open in late February. According to SEA LIFE’s marketing team, about 40 people will be hired to work at the aquarium. There will be a job fair in January. Further details on that have not been released.

The most recent wave of construction involved filling the ocean tank, the aquarium’s main attraction. The Concord Fire Department provided personnel to help with filling the tank, which requires 117,000 gallons of water.

“If you go to an aquarium, it’s already filled up," said Firefighter Lee Cavin. "It’s got fish in it. So it’s nice to actually see what goes on behind the scenes in putting a place like this together.”

SEA LIFE Marketing Manager Jack Stevenson explained what visitors will experience when they come to the aquarium.

“They’ll step into an underwater world on an immersive journey that takes you all from the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Catawba River all the way down to the Atlantic Ocean and tropical regions.”
