On Tuesday, passengers scrambled to get to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, some waiting hours before they could even make it to a parking spot.
But Wednesday had a different story. The drive into the airport was easy, the traffic well-managed and constantly flowing. Even the threat of icy rain and snow didn't’t stop people from getting to the airport and catching their flights on time.
Coleen Vincent drove to the CLT airport from Burlington with her husband. She said parking was easier than she expected.
“Things that should’ve gone wrong, didn’t,” she said. “It seems like everyone has they’re A –game on.”
Matt Holcombe said even though he was nervous to park at the airport because of what he’d seen on social media the night before, parking attendants streamlined the process.
“They had us directed, parked and shuttled to the airport, no problem,” he said. “It was a good experience.”
Outside, temperatures were low and the icy winds blew hard, but inside the terminal spirits were high. People catching flights to see their loved ones had nothing but good things to say about the airport customer service.
Darcy Phipps and her grandson were waiting to board a plane to see the boy’s father, her son, who is in the navy. She said she was very satisfied with the state of the airport this holiday season.
“Everyone’s been great here today,” she said. “They’ve been very helpful and seem to know what they’re doing.”
