Réveillon loosely translates to "Revival", and it has it's roots in France, where a hearty meal was prepared after midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. In recent years the Réveillon meal has become a tradition in New Orleans restaurants for the whole month of December. And now, Emeril Lagasse's Charlotte restaurant "e2" is bringing that tradition to the Queen City.
Charlotte food writer Sarah Crosland recently visited the restaurant to find out more about this special treat.
"We wanted to bring something special to the community," e2 General Manager Miki Nikolic told Crosland. "Since we are New Orleans based, being an Emeril Lagasse restaurant, we wanted to bring this New Orleans tradition here to say thank you to the community for supporting us."
Chef De Cuisine Brian Mottolo said the meal is meant to satisfy a big hunger.
"It's made to be very heavy and very indulgent," he said. "That's what we went with on this menu."
The menu offering runs through the end of December. It is a $38 prix-fix 3-course menu that costs $38.00 , plus tax and gratuity.
e2 is located at 135 Levine Avenue of the Arts, right across from the Knight Theater.
