Avoiding a Letdown; Panthers Prepare to Win 7th Straight Game

Posted: Updated:
Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Panthers have won six straight games. But the most noteworthy stretch, of those six, has come in the last two weeks. Wins over the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots have turned heads around the NFL.

This weekend, the effort for the Panthers is to avoid overlooking a 5-5 Miami Dolphins team that is not on the same plane as the Patriots and 49ers.

"You have to," Panthers head coach Ron Rivera says of staying focused. "Because if you lose focus of what's the next biggest game, and you go out and you screw it up, and lose, what you did those previous weeks no longer matter."

The Panthers know that Miami, while not a juggernaut, is still a good football team, capable of derailing this positive momentum they've built for themselves in the past month.

"They started out 3-0," safety Mike Mitchell said. "Everyone was saying how good they were. This team is a very good football team. They might not have the marquee names of teams that we've just played, but they're still an extremely good football team."

Sunday's game kicks off at 1 p.m. You can see the game on Fox46 Carolinas.
