What turned out to be a health issue for Dave Cole turned into the start of a family business for he and his wife Malinda. In the early ‘90s, Dave discovered he was lactose intolerant to cow's milk, and found that goat milk and cheese worked better for him. From there, the couple raised their own goats to produce milk and cheese right in their back yard. Last month, the Coles decided to share their home made goat cheese with the public, and opened Fishing Creek Creamery.

Firefighters are continuing to battle a wildfire burning in Burke County. The Table Rock fire in the Linville Gorge has already destroyed more than 2,200 acres. Crews say they are still concerned about the southern section of the fire. They are monitoring the progression of the fire and are in place in case it moves further south.

Firefighters say the fire is now about 40% contained. Right now nearly 200 crews are on the scene.

Fire investigators are looking for any information or observations that may help determine the cause of the fire. A reward may be offered for substantial information. You should contact Law Enforcement Officer Jason Crisp at 828-442-2470 or the Grandfather Ranger District at 828-652-2144 if you have any information.
