Chapel Hill, NC - The North Carolina Tar Heels gave up 15 three-pointers on Sunday, in an 83-80 upset loss at the hands of the Belmont Bruins.

Belmont's J.J. Mann did the majority of Belmont's damage, making 5 three pointers of his own -- including the game-winner with under 15 seconds to play -- en route to a 28-point performance, to go along with 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

Carolina (2-1) trailed 41-34 at halftime. They trailed by as much as 11 in the second half, but came back to take a lead. The Heels even led by as much as 8 in the final four minutes. But Belmont (3-1) came back.

A three-pointer from Mann with just over a minute to play cut the Heels lead to 3, at 78-75. Another three, nine seconds later, cut the Heels lead to 2.  Then, after a Blake Jenkins steal from Marcus Paige, Mann lined up yet another three. And drained his third triple in less than a minute, giving Belmont an 81-80 lead.

J.P. Tokoto missed a shot for Carolina, and Belmont made two free throws for the final margin.

North Carolina, again playing without P.J. Hairston and Leslie McDonald, was led by James Michael McAdoo's 27 points and 13 rebounds. Marcus Paige scored 17 points, while Brice Johnson had 14 off the bench.
