VILLA RICA, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man armed with a gun has surrendered after barricading himself inside a Villa Rica home for nearly 14 hours.

Villa Rica police chief Michael Mansour told All News 106.7 in Atlanta that the man surrendered after a 16-hour standoff with police at a home on Buckeye Lane.

Police at the scene tell FOX 5 News they had negotiated with the man throughout the day on Saturday. He was seen through a window, holding a gun.

Donnie Wright, 42, surrendered to police around 5:30 p.m.

Officials said a domestic situation prompted the standoff around 3:30 a.m.

Various agencies from Douglas, Carroll and Cobb counties were asked to assist during the incident.
