MARIETTA, Ga. -

Cobb County school officials say they've cleaned up a mess left behind by vandals early Friday morning at Lassiter High School.  They say a football rivalry is to blame for the graffiti, which was spray painted in the school and on the football field.

In a statement released to FOX 5 News, the Cobb County School District said the vandalism was a rivalry that crossed the line into a criminal act.  They said it has since been cleaned up, and the Lassiter Trojans now look forward to Friday night's game.

There is no word on any disciplinary action in the case.

The Trojans host the Peachtree Ridge Lions in the first round of the playoffs.
