Police chase in Snellville caught on camera

Posted: Updated:
SNELLVILLE, Ga. -

Police say it's a miracle that no one was killed Monday night during a car chase through the streets of Snellville.

Authorities said the chase began after police pulled over 34-year-old Ben Kline and 20-year-old Darrell Thomas on suspicion of burglary at a Snellville hotel.

As the suspects were being patted down, police say Kline broke free and took off.

Authorities say first Kline tried to hijack a black SUV from a 40-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter.

That man though pulled out a gun and told Kline to get away from his car.

At that point, police said Kline ran across the street, where he did manage to get into another car, telling that car's driver he would kill him if he didn't drive away.

Snellville police chased Kline and his carjacked victim nearly four miles before police say Kline crashed the stolen vehicle, but not before striking a police car multiple times.

Police say Kline tried to escape on foot, but didn't make it far before being arrested.

Police say both suspects already face a slew of charges, among them multiple counts of armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault on a police officer. More charges could be filed, authorities said.
