GSU recognized for improving graduation rate

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities has recognized Georgia State University for its work in increasing its graduation rate.

School spokeswoman Andrea Jones says GSU was given the association's Most Visible Trailblazer Award Tuesday for raising its graduation rate by 22 points in the past decade.

Jones says Georgia State monitor students as they begin their studies and use an early warning tracking system to intervene if it looks like a struggling student's academic future is in jeopardy.

Jones says the university was also recognized by the Education Advisory Board in Washington, D.C. last week for contributing to a national effort to increase college completion.
