Charlotte, NC -
Despite seven players in double-figures, the Charlotte Bobcats lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 103-94 on Monday night. Four Hawks in double-figures, led by Al Horford's 24 points, were enough to overcome the Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena.
It was Steve Clifford's return to the Bobcats bench, Monday night. Clifford missed the Bobcats game Friday night against the Knicks, due to health concerns. Clifford was not feeling well, Thursday night at dinner. He was hospitalized, and on Friday had two stents placed in his heart. He missed only the one game, though, as he returned to the sideline Monday night.
Clifford received a round of applause from the Time Warner Cable Arena crowd. The first-year Bobcats head coach is 52 years old.
The Bobcats led Atlanta, 54-46 at halftime. But the Hawks outscored Charlotte 34-16 in the third quarter, to claim a lead they would not relinquish.
Charlotte falls back under .500, at 3-4 on the season. They hit the road for their next two games -- at Boston and at Cleveland. They are back home on Saturday night against the Miami Heat.
