Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE -

Have you ever sat in traffic on the way to work and wondered “Would it be easier or faster to take the light rail?” or thought “I could have gotten here without paying parking if I just hopped on the bus.”

Well, we did a little experiment that may help you with getting around in the Queen City. We took the bus, light rail and drove a car to the same destination to compare the travel time.

The starting point was at the I-485 station on South Boulevard and ended at the Bank of America plaza. Here are our results.

Form of  Transportation Travel Time Cost
Driving 33 mins $20 parking
Light rail 31 mins $2 for round trip
Bus 1:25 mins $4 for round trip
