An art exhibit in Charlotte's NoDa District shows that one form of art can be transformed into another form of art. The exhibit is titled "The Note", but it's not about making music. It's about turning old and damaged musical instruments into pieces of artwork. Local artist Colleen Galeazzi takes broken instruments she gets from a music shop and creates sculptures and other artistic pieces with them. Her most talked about piece is a human skeleton made out of pieces of musical instruments. "I have always had a deep interest in the skeletal structure," she said. "I'm a massage therapist, so the structure of the human body is very important to me." Galeazzi feels that her works honor the people who once played the instruments she turns into artwork, by bringing them back to life and giving them new purpose. The exhibit was a one-night-only presentation. If you would like to get more information on her creations, Galeazzi can be reached at the vargi&vargi spa in Charlotte.
