New Orleans at Chicago
If not for Peyton Manning, Drew Brees has been the quarterback story of the first four weeks. He threw for over 400 yards and had four scores last week and he'll do it again this week. Darren Sproles is the only part of the running game I like. The Bears are coming off giving up 151 yards and a touchdown to Detroit running backs. I see around 82 yards (mostly through the air) and a TD for Sproles. Jimmy Graham is an everyweek no brainer and you'll be rewared with another 100+ yard with a touchdown performance. Marques Colston will also flirt with the century mark and haul in another touchdown. I always like Garrett Hartley because he plays on a team that scores a ton. My fear is this week those points are one's and not three's.
I fully expect an air show at Soldier Field and although Cutler can't possibly match Brees' totals, he'll put up decent numbers of his own. The Saints defense has been stingy against the pass allowing 125 and 187 yards to Tampa Bay and Arizona. Yes, I know it is the Bucs and Cards. They did allow Matt Ryan to eclipse 300 yards and two scores in the opener and those are the numbers I see for Cutler. Matt Forte will continue his strong start and pick up 150 combo yards and score. I like both Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery to score with Marshall to top 100 yards and Jeffery to claim 78 yards making him playable as a flex or WR3. Martellus Bennett is also a good start this week. The Saints just allowed 42 yards and a score to Miami tight ends. Robbie Gould is a solid play and has made all seven field goals this season.
Jacksonville at St. Louis
Even playing against the bad St. Louis defense is horrible matchup for Blaine Gabbert because, well, Gabbert is worse. With Justin Blackmon returning and Cecil Shorts nursing an injury it'll be another 230 one score game for Gabbert. The Rams run defense just got torched in back to back weeks by DeMarco Murray and Frank Gore. Maurice Jones-Drew will pick up 80 combo yards, but won't find the endzone. As mentioned, Shorts is nursing a sore groin and didn't practice the entire week and is questionable. Justin Blackmon is making his season debut after being suspended for the first four weeks. I don't like to say anything certain about the Jags other than they are bad and shouldn't be in your lineups.
If Sam Bradford can't get right this week, he never will. He will eclipse 300 yards and throw for a pair of scores. I don't want anything to do with the running game because I have no idea who the lead dog is. The group will combine for 90 yards...but I have no idea how those yards will be divided. I like Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Jared Cook this week. All three will put up decent yard numbers and Austin and Cook will score. Greg Zuerlein is a must have and is a sleeper kicker in our rankings this week. The defense should also produce points and against a junior varsity offense is a good start.
Seattle at Indianapolis
I am so disappointed in Russel Wilson a quarter into the season. He struggled last week against Houston and will have another just okay day against the Colts. Only Miami (319 yards) have had a good yardage day and Indianapolis has allowed just 150 and 179 yards through the air the last two weeks with no touchdowns. I see about 219 yards with one score. I do like the running game though. Marshawn Lynch should eclipse 100 yards and score. The receiving corps will struggle but Golden Tate should find the endzone with around 78 yards. Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin should be on your bench with Zach Miller. Steven Hauschka is a good start this week as is the Seahawks defense.
Andrew Luck's matchup with the Seattle defense which has 13 takeaways (a league high) is not favorable. He'll struggle and put up similar numbers as his counterpart in Seattle. I don't see much more than 220 and one touchdown. If you like three yards per carry then Trent Richardson is your guy. That won't change this week and neither will his scoring streak. He'll finish with 66 yards on 22 carries and a score. TY Hilton will have a decent game with Reggie Wayne drawing Richard Sherman. I see 72 yards and a score for Hilton and 60ish yards for Wayne. Coby Fleener is a okay start as the Seahawks just gave up 11 catches for 141 yards and a score against Houston tight ends. Adam Vinatieri is a good play this week and should have opportunity.
Baltimore at Miami
I don't like this matchup for the Ravens. Joe Flacco will continue to struggle and I don't see much more than 300 yards and he'll have two touchdowns. Ray Rice faces a middle of the road defense against the run and he should bounce back with a 100 combo yard game and he should find the endzone as well. Bernard Pierce should be on your bench with lack of opportunity being the main reason. Torrey Smith will be the main benefactor of Flacco's yards. He should pick up 100+ yards and a touchdown. Marlon Brown is a WR3/flex option and will have 80ish yards. Dallas Clark should be on your bench. Justin Tucker will have opportunity if Flacco stops throwing the ball to the opposition.
After allowing seven passing scores in week one, the Ravens have given up one the past three weeks. Ryan Tannehill will put up around 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Lamar Miller will have 100+ combo yards and a touchdown. Mike Wallace will flirt with 100 yards and a touchdown while Brian Hartline will finish with 80ish yards and a score as well. Kicker Caleb Sturgis is a good play this week as well.
New England at Cincinnati
From a statistical perspective, Tom Brady has been a disappointment. He finally went over 300 yards last week and will come close again this week. I see 292 and a pair of scores. LeGarrette Blount will see the workload with Stevan Ridley out of action this week and Brandon Bolden nursing a bad knee. Blount will finish with around 80 yards. Kenbrell Thompkins had a monster game last week and should produce again this week with 100+ yards and a score. Julian Edelman will catch Brady's other score and finish with 68 yards. Danny Amendola might play this week but Rob Gronkowski will sit once again. Stephen Gostokowski is always a great play.
Andy Dalton was not good last week but has a chance to bounce back for 280 yards and a pair of scores against a New England team that has not been tested save one game. Giovani Bernard is fantasy gold and should top 100 combo yards and score again as he takes control of the RB1 spot in Cincy. BenJarvus Green-Ellis is dead from a fantasy perspective. He'll finish with less than 40 yards. AJ Green will put up monster numbers (100+ yards and a score). Tyler Eifert will catch the other touchdown and put up around 52 yards. I'd sit Mohmed Sanu and Jermaine Gresham. Mike Nugent won't have many FG opportunities but will put up 6-7 points.
Kansas City at Tennessee
Alex Smith has had a consistent start averaging 239 yards and is averaging almost two scores per game. The Titans are allowing an average of 240 yards so it isn't tough to figure Smith's statline. How about 239 yards and one touchdown for Smith? Jamaal Charles will finish with 130 combo yards and a pair of scores. Dwayne Bowe will click his heels together, but won't score and finish with 58 yards. Donnie Avery and Sean McGrath should be on your bench. Kicker Ryan Succop is a great play this week and the Chiefs defense is elite.
With Jake Locker out, Ryan Fitzpatrick and if you saw him in Buffalo, you want nothing to do with him. Chris Johnson yelled at me last week for starting him on my fantasy team after he put up 21 yards. He'll double that this week, but will fail to score...again. Nate Washington will lead the way (whatever that means) in the Titans receiving corps, but remember who is throwing him the ball. I don't see more than 72 yards. Kenny Britt, Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker should be firmly on your bench with Rob Bironas and the Titans defense.
Carolina at Arizona
What in the Cam Newton is going on here? He finally broke through last week but I live in Missouri so, "show me". If he can touch 300 yards and multiple scores, I will be willing to consider him back for good. DeAngelo Williams has had an okay season and I see close to 100 combo yards this week. Steve Smith will finish shy of 100 yards and score and Greg Olsen has a chance to score as well with around 70 yards. Kicker Graham Gano should be on your bench, but the Carolina defense is very startable.
Carson Palmer will have a better game this week and should top 300 yards and throw a couple of scores. Rashard Mendenhall won't produce yards and he'll find it tough to get into the endzone against a defense that has allowed just one rushing touchdown all year. Larry Fitzgerald is a must start and will top 100 yards and score. Michael Floyd is also a good start this week and should finish around 80 yards and a score as well. You will find better kickers than Jay Feely, but the defense is a decent play.
Denver at Dallas
Peyton Manning is a fantasy football god and he'll roll into the house that Jerry built and blow a hole through the roof. How can you not see 400 yards and four scores in this one. Knowshon Moreno wins the rock-paper-scissors match this week and scores and finishes with 92 combo yards. As far as the receivers, all four score with Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker going over 100 yards. Eric Decker will finish with 78 yards and Orange Julius will roll in with 67. Not bad for a rock star offense. Kicker Matt Prater should be in your lineup weekly.
It'll be a shootout at AT&T, and Tony Romo will continue his strong season. He won't beat Manning in stats, but he will have a solid fantasy day with 350 yards and a pair of touchdowns. I like what DeMarco Murray has done in four weeks and he'll continue to produce. I see a touchdown and 130 combo yards against the Broncos. Dez Bryant is a must start and the dispenser will score and top 120 yards. Jason Witten is a good play this week as well and could find the endzone but will top 90 yards. Kicker Dan Bailey should finish with a couple of field goals and extra points making him a decent play. You should avoid the Dallas defense like a Miley Cyrus video.
Houston at San Francisco
Save the game against Baltimore, Matt Schaub has been QB gold. He has thrown for 300 yards and or three touchdowns in his other three games. That trend will continue this weekend as he'll hit 325 yards and a touchdown. Arian Foster continues to be a machine. Here's hoping Gary Kubiak keeps feeding him the ball. He'll top 100 combo yards and score at least once against a defense that has allowed five touchdowns to running backs this season. Andre Johnson will top 100 yards and score as well, but I would leave DeAndre Hopkins on the bench this week with a sub 50 yard performance. Owen Daniels remains a viable tight end start. Keep Randy Bullock and the defense on the bench.
Colin Kaepernick should produce solid numbers this week with 290 yards and a pair of scores. He'll also give owners around 50 yards on the ground. Frank Gore complained about his lack of touches prior to last weeks game, then went berzerk for 153 yards and a score. While I don't see 150 yards, I sure see a 100+ game and a score effort from the big fella. Kendall Hunter will finish with 70 combo yards. In the passing game, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis are both good plays. Both will top 90 yards and score. Phil Dawson is a great play this week and should net double-digit points.
San Diego at Oakland
A night game after the night game makes my footbal Sunday a quadruple header and there should be plenty of points in the night cap. Philip Rivers has been the best "didn't see that coming" story. He'll top 300 yards and two scores again this week. Ryan Mathews should approach 100 combo yards against an Oakland run defense that has allowed 100+ yards each of the past two weeks. Danny Woodhead caught two touchdown passes last week and is a go to guy in PPR leagues. He'll finish with around 80 combo yards. Vincent Brown and Antonio Gates are solid starts this week and both will score. Kicker Nick Novak and the defense belong on your bench.
Terrelle Pryor is back and will provide immediate dividends. 260 yards passing with another 60 rushing is the call to order. Rashad Jennings will get the majority of the work and will top 100 combo yards and score. I like Denarius Moore this week to find the endzone and come close to 100 yards. Rod Streater will produce yards, but won't find the endzone. Sebastian Janikowski is a great start this week as is the Raiders defense.
New York Jets at Atlanta
With injuries abound for the Jets, Geno Smith shouldn't be anywhere near your lineup. He'll struggle to find 160 yards and won't throw a score. Bilal Powell will produce something around 70 yards and will find the stripe. Jeremy Kerley will be the top receiver with Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill likely out this week. Make it easy on yourself and just bench all Jets.
The Falcons are the other side of the coin. Matt Ryan continues to produce and will again this week with a 320 yard three touchdown performance. I wish I could combine Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers. Both will finish with about the same line 60 combo yards. Julio Jones will put up monster numbers again this week 100+ and multiple touchdowns is a good probability. Roddy White took a setback last week on his gimpy ankle but he continues to play. Start at your own risk. Tony Gonzalez took a drink out of the fountain of youth last week and looks to put solid back to back weeks together. He'll score and top 70 yards. Kicker Matt Bryant is a must start as is the Falcons defense.
