CHARLOTTE -

Price’s Chicken Coop in Charlotte has had customers walking through it's doors since 1962. At that time John F. Kennedy was president, the Vietnam War was going on, and Elvis was king.

“We’ve watched the world change around us so to speak,” President of Price’s Chicken Coop, Steven Price, said.

He says this place has lasted over the years, because it stayed in the family, and because of the customers who keep coming back year after year.

“As long as the people walking in the door are happy, that’s what makes the difference,” Price said.

With everything made from scratch, the cooks start preparing the chicken, hashbrowns, and fish before doors open at 10:00 AM. The most popular item on the menu is the chicken.

Price’s has become a landmark of Charlotte, winning national awards and being featured on the food channel. One of the workers, Ida De Zwaan has an interesting way of describing this historic restaurant.

“The New York Stock Exchange of Chicken,” De Zwaan said.

Price’s Chicken Coop has fed this city for 51 years, becoming part of Charlotte’s history. And it shows no signs of becoming just that - History.
