The Mecklenburg County’s District Attorney’s office is working with Pat’s Place, a child advocacy group in Charlotte to transform one of their waiting rooms for children. Having to testify can be a daunting and overwhelming experience for anyone. Imagine what it might feel like for a child, whether they’re a victim or a witness to a crime.

It’s not often you get to see the soft side of NFL players, but the Carolina Panthers did just that on a new calendar for the Humane Society of Charlotte.

Stephanie Rivera came up with the idea and shared it with her husband, Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera.

“He thought it was a great idea from the get-go. He just thought what a great idea to pair these athletes with great animals. Some of the animals that come here are gorgeous animals in need to find their forever home,” Stephanie Rivera said.

The calendar is titled “Puppies…Panthers…and Kittens, Oh My” and is now on sale.http://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/

“The humane society is a natural fit for us because we have two dogs ourselves, and we really feel very strongly about the welfare of animals,” Coach Rivera said.

The humane society hopes to raise $50,000 and all that money will go towards helping local animals. Panthers player JJ Jansen says he was excited to help out.

“It was a fun different kind of idea. We got to channel a little bit of our modeling side Which we don’t usually get to do,” Jansen said.

The calendar is available for purchase online at the Humane Society’s website or at 10 locations in Charlotte.
