DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A memorial continues to grow in front of a Family Dollar in Dearborn.

Police say Monday night someone came in, robbed the store, shot and killed 20-year-old Joseph Orlando and abducted 20-year-old Brenna Machus. Her personal belongings and cell phone were left behind.

Fearing her friend could be in danger and feeling helpless, Kaylyn Lee, who grew up with Machus, started a Facebook page and has organized an effort involving dozens, who are now going door to door and car to car posting flyers hoping someone has seen her and will contact police.

"The only way I feel to help get her home is awareness, people recognizing her name, her face. If they see her with anybody, they'll know," Lee says.

Dearborn Police released video of the suspect seen waving as he walked into the store. His face was covered, and he was wearing bulky dark clothing.

Police are also looking for two female customers, who were in the store around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Crime Stoppers is now offering rewards for information that may lead to an arrest.

"There are so many people that need Brenna, and we love her and miss her, and we want her home," says Lisa Machus, Brenna's mother.

While police search for her daughter, Orlando's family and friends are mourning their loss. They held a vigil Wednesday night in front of St. Albert the Great in Dearborn Heights where Orlando used to attend school. His friends describe him as the nicest guy.

"He was just trying to get his life straightened out," says Nikki Kochanek. "He was getting his GED. He just finally got a job, and this is what happens."
